Life of Pi Responds to Audience Backlash After Last-Minute Show Cancellation
On November 11, the production team took to their official social media to inform audiences that the lighting equipment issues have been resolved following technical checks and tests conducted from the previous day through the morning.
The production company expressed their deep responsibility for the cancellation and announced refunds and a rescheduled performance. An additional show is set for Monday, the 16th, at 7:30 PM. This additional performance will be available exclusively to those who had tickets for the canceled show on the 10th, with the same seats, cast, and curtain call event.
The production team explained, "We conduct pre-show checks and rehearsals for each part of the stage before every performance. During the final check yesterday, we identified a lighting equipment error, and despite ongoing recovery efforts, an unexplained malfunction occurred." They added, "Due to the technical error affecting the lighting equipment, which impacts stage movement, we prioritized safety and decided to cancel the performance."
Previously, 'Life of Pi' sent audiences home just five minutes before the show due to lighting issues. This led to anger from audiences, including those who traveled from other regions and countries, and criticism of the management's inadequate response.
'Life of Pi' is based on Yann Martel's novel and follows the 227-day journey of a boy named Pi and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker stranded on a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean. It is making its debut in the country and is scheduled to run until March 2.
