MBC's Upcoming Drama 'The Call You Made' Unveils First Teaser, Promising a Thrilling Romance Thriller

The first teaser for 'The Call You Made' has been released.

Set to premiere on November 22 at 9:50 PM, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Call You Made' is a secret romance thriller about a couple in a strategic marriage of three years, whose lives are turned upside down by a threatening phone call.

Based on the popular KakaoPage web novel of the same name, 'The Call You Made' is a collaboration between writer Kim Ji-woon, known for solid works like 'Melancholia' and 'Doctor John', and director Park Sang-woo, who showcased his unique directing skills in 'The Forbidden Marriage'. The drama is also drawing attention for its cast, including Yoo Yeon-seok, Chae Soo-bin, Heo Nam-jun, and Jang Gyu-ri.

The first teaser, released on the 24th, begins with the protagonist Baek Sa-eon (played by Yoo Yeon-seok), who seems perfect in every way, from family background to appearance and abilities. His charismatic presence is felt as he confidently addresses a crowd of cameras and reporters, saying, “I am Baek Sa-eon, spokesperson for the presidential office.”

However, the mood shifts dramatically when Sa-eon receives a threatening phone call. At the same time, his business wife Hong Hee-joo (played by Chae Soo-bin) is seen breathing heavily in a car, trembling with fear, heightening the tension. The teaser raises curiosity about who is threatening her and the intense dynamics between the 'show window couple' Sa-eon and Hee-joo following the call.

The teaser also briefly shows Sa-eon placing a wedding ring on Hee-joo's finger, drawing attention to the unusual romance narrative of the couple bound by a strategic marriage.

As Sa-eon continues to confront the mysterious blackmailer, he loses his composure and delivers a chilling warning, “Forget about being arrested quietly. I will catch you myself.” The secret behind the threatening call to Sa-eon is a mystery that fuels anticipation for the story that promises to explode with dopamine from the first teaser.

Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin, even in the short preview, effectively portray the turmoil of a couple in a strategic marriage shaken by a sudden threatening call, exuding a strong presence. 'The Call You Made', set to be the highlight of MBC's Friday-Saturday dramas in the second half of 2024, has already heightened viewers' expectations with its stylish first teaser, gearing up for the main broadcast.
