Actress Uhm Ji-won Triumphs Over Injury: A Journey of Recovery and Resilience

Actress Uhm Ji-won has shared her inspiring journey of recovery after undergoing surgery for a fracture, revealing that she is now able to stand on her own two feet again.

On February 1st, Uhm Ji-won posted a video on her social media with the caption, "An unexpected accident on February 14, 2026. The diagnosis of not being able to walk for three months was terrifying, but I didn't lose hope and made small efforts every day."

The video documents the entire process of Uhm Ji-won's injury during a trip to Japan, including her hospital transport, surgery, and rehabilitation. Even while being transported in an ambulance, Uhm Ji-won tried to reassure her companions. The footage also shows her receiving treatment with metal pins in her leg.

Throughout the treatment, she was seen shedding tears, praying with clasped hands, and focusing on rehabilitation with the help of crutches. Despite crying out in pain, she explained that she never lost hope and made small efforts daily. She added, "Six weeks post-surgery, I was able to stand on both feet. There are still many challenges ahead, but I hope this video serves as a small comfort and hope."

Ultimately, she succeeded in walking without crutches and was moved to tears when she received a bouquet from the production team and friends. She announced her return, saying, "Misfortune can be overcome with miracles. Let's meet again with healthy smiles." The video prompted netizens to express relief and encouragement, with comments like "You really went through a lot. Your positive power is amazing," and "You are truly brave and wonderful."

Previously, Uhm Ji-won revealed that she had fractured her ankle during a trip to Japan last month and had to return to Korea urgently for surgery. She clarified that the injury did not occur while skiing, but due to a combination of circumstances. She explained, "My shoe got stuck in a manhole, causing my foot to twist and the bones to completely break. Both the large and small bones were shattered."

Meanwhile, Uhm Ji-won won the Grand Prize at the KBS Drama Awards last December for her role in the drama 'Please Take Care of the Eagle Five Brothers!'.
