On the upcoming May 1st episode of KBS2's variety show 'New Release Pyeonstorang', the story of trot prince Kim Yong-bin, who rose to fame by winning 'Mr. Trot 3', will be unveiled. The episode will delve into the trials he faced during his 23-year journey in the trot music industry and how he managed to overcome them.
In the VCR segment, Kim Yong-bin warmly welcomes his friend Chu Hyuk-jin, who traveled all the way to Daegu to see him. The two became close friends after appearing together on a trot competition show. Chu Hyuk-jin, the son of a barbecue restaurant owner, brought a variety of delicious meats for Kim Yong-bin, who showcased his cooking skills by preparing delightful dishes, impressing everyone.
The two friends then reminisced about their past. Despite their current success as popular trot singers, they both endured challenging times. Kim Yong-bin shared, “I went to Japan to sing after graduating middle school. It was really tough.” He faced financial difficulties and, due to a sudden voice change, was unable to sing, leading to panic disorder at a young age.
Kim Yong-bin recalled, “I couldn't do anything for seven years and stayed home,” sharing details of that period. Chu Hyuk-jin also opened up about his struggles, saying, “I dreamed of becoming a singer, but in my 20s, I survived on a single lunchbox a day due to lack of money.” Their candid stories received supportive reactions from the 'Pyeonstorang' cast.
Kim Yong-bin further showcased his culinary skills by preparing famous dishes from his hometown, Daegu, confidently stating, “I think I could be a chef,” and “I cook well.” The delightful encounter between Kim Yong-bin, the budding chef, and his friend Chu Hyuk-jin can be seen on the upcoming episode of 'New Release Pyeonstorang'.
