Canadian Family from 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' Stars in Disney+ Documentary 'Blink'

The Canadian family that gained attention on the show 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' has been revealed as the stars of the Disney+ documentary 'Blink.'

According to the production team of MBC Every1's 'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' the Peltier family, who appeared on the episode aired on the 23rd, are the subjects of global interest due to 'Blink.' Their story has been revisited, capturing the audience's attention.

Three of the four Peltier siblings have been diagnosed with the rare disease 'retinitis pigmentosa.' This condition begins with night blindness and progresses to 'tunnel vision,' eventually leading to blindness. Currently, there is no known cure.

In a pre-interview with the production team, mother Edith recalled, "The hardest part was knowing it's a disease that can't be solved with effort," and expressed her feelings of helplessness and fear. Following medical advice to "create as many visual memories for the children as possible," the family decided to travel, opting for real-world experiences over books or videos.

The Peltier family embarked on an 18-month journey across 18 countries, focusing on the children's bucket list. They created memories through experiences like 'drinking juice on a camel,' 'horse riding in Mongolia,' and 'watching the sunset in the desert.'

Their 19th destination is Korea. The children developed an interest in Korean culture through the animated film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' which inspired their dream to visit Korea.

In the recent broadcast, the children left a strong impression on viewers with their bright energy and family bonds, even in unfamiliar surroundings. The eldest, Mia, shared, "I try to live in the present and enjoy the moment," adding, "If you don't worry about the future, there's no fear," resonating with many.

The Korean trip is also centered around the children's bucket list, including K-pop experiences, Korean cuisine, and various cultural activities, fulfilling their long-held dreams.

The production team stated, "This trip is more than just sightseeing; it's a journey for the children to find their own meaning," adding, "The experiences in Korea will become another precious memory."

'Welcome, First Time in Korea?' will air on the 30th at 8:30 PM.
