Tensions Rise in 'Our Happy Days' as Um Hyun-kyung Faces Off with Kim Hye-ok

In the latest episode of KBS 1TV's daily drama 'Our Happy Days,' aired on the 27th, tensions reached a peak as Jo Eun-ae, played by Um Hyun-kyung, was slapped by her mother, Kang Yeon-ja, portrayed by Kim Hye-ok. The episode recorded a viewership rating of 10.6% nationwide, according to Nielsen Korea.

During the episode, Jo Eun-hyung, played by Choi Sung-won, faced a divorce notice from his wife, Cheon Ji-seon, played by Kim Soo-ah. Jo Eun-hyung refused a professor position due to the unfair demand for a donation, leading to a heated conflict with Cheon Ji-seon, who had already received 200 million won from Jo Eun-ae. The tension between Jo Eun-hyung's principles and Cheon Ji-seon's reality intensified the uneasy atmosphere.

Jo Eun-ae ignored persistent calls from Kang Yeon-ja and returned home, only to face her mother's sharp criticism. Having already given money to Cheon Ji-seon, Jo Eun-ae dismissed Kang Yeon-ja's favoritism towards her brother and retreated to her room, while Jo Sung-joon, played by Sunwoo Jae-duk, tried to calm Yeon-ja. The unresolved tension heightened the drama.

Meanwhile, Go Gyeol, played by Yoon Jong-hoon, found his feelings for Jo Eun-ae growing, which was noticed by Go Min-ho, played by Jung Yoon, and Seo Seung-ri, played by Yoon Da-young. While watching a video of Eun-ae at a senior center, Go Gyeol was caught trying on lion slippers she had given him. Go Min-ho suspected a relationship between Go Gyeol and Jo Eun-ae, creating an awkward atmosphere, prompting Seo Seung-ri to leave in frustration. The complex love quadrangle added intrigue to the storyline.

After their first meeting, Go Gyeol privately asked Jo Eun-ae if she had ulterior motives for accepting the internship, leaving her flustered. Go Gyeol, who had been suspicious of Jo Eun-ae's interest in the 'Lucky Joy Tech' acquisition contract while she was detained, proposed, "Let's work together properly for six months," questioning her intentions.

Meanwhile, Kang Yeon-ja was shocked to learn from Jo Bit-na, played by Lee Da-eun, about Jo Eun-hyung's divorce notice. Upon Jo Eun-ae's return from work, Kang Yeon-ja unleashed her resentment, prompting Jo Eun-ae to recall her mother's past abandonment, retorting, "Why didn't you abandon me again?" In anger, Kang Yeon-ja slapped Jo Eun-ae, ending the episode with a dramatic cliffhanger, leaving viewers curious about the unfolding mother-daughter conflict.
