Former public official Kim Seon-tae has taken an unconventional approach to promote a bed brand by hosting a 'sleep broadcast.'
On the 21st, a promotional video for a bed brand was uploaded on Kim Seon-tae's YouTube channel. In the video, Kim is seen lying on a bed as he conducts the broadcast. He explained his collaboration with the brand, stating, "I will be donating a bed and mattress worth approximately $26,000. My share is not much."
He further added, "The bigger reason is to earn money. I'm not earning money for charity; I'm doing it for my own well-being," emphasizing, "Some might say I'm trying to cultivate an image of a 'donation angel,' but I'm definitely not. I'm donating to improve my image."
He continued, "There's also talk that I'm donating to avoid taxes, but that's nonsense. It's best not to buy into that. It's just baseless criticism." He explained, "I'm not a good person. I'm obsessed with money, eager to earn what I couldn't as a public official."
Kim then remarked, "I don't believe this will help me sleep better. Insomnia isn't easily cured," before eventually falling asleep. His sleeping figure was broadcast for about 18 minutes.
In response, a representative from the bed brand commented, "We requested a lying broadcast... Kim Seon-tae, where do you live?" Viewers were impressed, saying, "This ad was refreshingly innovative," and "It's so absurdly brilliant that I'm speechless." As of 10:30 AM on the 22nd, the video had garnered 1.3 million views.
