EMK Musical Company (EMK) has revealed the first meeting for the musical 'Beethoven,' which is set to open on June 9 at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center in Seoul. The event was attended by key cast members, including Hong Kwang-ho as Ludwig van Beethoven, along with Yoon Gong-ju, Kim Ji-hyun, Kim Ji-woo, and the creative team.
During the meeting, the creative team and actors engaged in a script reading session to synchronize their performances and discussed how to portray Beethoven's artistic struggles with depth and authenticity. The camaraderie among the actors was evident, as they exchanged greetings with excitement and shared a deep affection for the production. The positive energy at the event hinted at the synergy expected to unfold on stage.
This season, the musical drops its previous subtitle 'Beethoven Secret' and presents itself simply as 'Beethoven.' The production has undergone narrative refinement and character relationship reconfiguration to enhance its overall quality. Additionally, new compositions by Sylvester Levay have been added to enrich the musical depth. The production aims to delve deeply into Beethoven's struggles and human aspects as he created his immortal music.
Executive Producer Um Hong-hyun expressed, "I am thrilled that the time has come to portray the life of the great musician Beethoven in our own voice. This time, we focused on Beethoven's inner world to capture his struggles and aspirations more profoundly. We hope to present a high-quality performance to the audience, as the cast and creative team have united in preparation for a long time."
Actors Park Hyo-shin and Hong Kwang-ho will portray the solitary artist Ludwig with different interpretations, while Yoon Gong-ju, Kim Ji-hyun, and Kim Ji-woo are expected to add depth to the narrative with their delicate performances as Antonie. The inclusion of talented actors is anticipated to enhance the multidimensional characters and increase the production's immersion.
The musical 'Beethoven' has already garnered attention with its casting announcements and cast trailer release. It topped the reservation charts upon the first ticket release, proving its high interest. Expectations are high for the performances in this season.
Meanwhile, the musical 'Beethoven' will run from June 9 to August 11 at the Grand Theater of the Sejong Center in Seoul.
