'Salmoji' Tops Box Office for 7 Consecutive Days, Surpasses Break-even Point

The film 'Salmoji' directed by Lee Sang-min has surpassed its break-even point of 800,000 viewers.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets, 'Salmoji' has held the number one spot at the box office for seven consecutive days as of the 14th. The film added 64,689 viewers, bringing its total audience to 862,332.

Released on the 8th, 'Salmoji' follows a road view filming team that returns to a reservoir known for strange rumors after an unidentified shape is captured there. The film stars actress Kim Hye-yoon.

In second place at the box office is 'The King and the Man' directed by Jang Hang-jun, with a daily audience of 23,852 and a cumulative audience of 16,444,913.

'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to surpass 10 million viewers on March 6. It has also surpassed 'Extreme Job' (2019, 16.26 million viewers) to become the second highest-grossing film in box office history. The top spot is held by 'Roaring Currents' (2014, 17.61 million viewers). The cumulative revenue is the highest ever at 158.7 billion won.

Set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo, 'The King and the Man' tells the story of a village chief who volunteers for exile to revive the village and a young dethroned king in exile. The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.

In third place is 'Project Hail Mary' directed by Phil Lord, with a daily audience of 21,015 and a cumulative audience of 2,086,158.

'Project Hail Mary' follows Grace, who wakes up alone in the middle of space with no memory, as she embarks on a final mission to save humanity from an impending apocalypse. The film stars Ryan Gosling and Sandra Wheeler.
