'The King and the Man' Nears Box Office Milestone with 16.22 Million Viewers
The film 'The King and the Man' directed by Jang Hang-jun has surpassed 16.22 million viewers, bringing it closer to becoming the second highest-grossing film in box office history. The cumulative revenue has reached 156.5 billion won, continuously setting new records.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network, the box office leader on the 9th was 'Sal Mok Ji' directed by Lee Sang-min. 'Sal Mok Ji' added 70,759 viewers, bringing its total audience to 187,585.

'Sal Mok Ji' follows a road view filming team returning to a reservoir plagued by strange rumors after an unidentified shape is captured on camera. The film stars Kim Hye-yoon.

In second place was 'Project Hail Mary' directed by Phil Lord, with a daily audience of 33,891 and a total of 1,766,793 viewers. 'Project Hail Mary' tells the story of Grace (played by Ryan Gosling), who wakes up alone in the middle of space with no memory and must complete a final mission to save humanity from an apocalyptic threat. Ryan Gosling and Sandra Wheeler star in the film.

The third spot in the box office was claimed by 'The King and the Man'. The film recorded a daily audience of 32,843, with a cumulative audience of 16,222,006.

'The King and the Man' became the 34th film in history to surpass 10 million viewers last month on the 6th. It also surpassed 'Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds' (2017, 14.41 million viewers) to become the third highest-grossing film in box office history. The all-time leader is 'Roaring Currents' (2014, 17.61 million viewers), followed by 'Extreme Job' (2019, 16.26 million viewers). The gap with 'Extreme Job' is approximately 40,000 viewers.

'The King and the Man' is set in 1457 Cheongryeongpo and tells the story of a village chief who voluntarily exiles himself for the prosperity of the village and a young dethroned king in exile. The film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.
