Actor Lee Beom-soo has shared his feelings following his divorce.
On the October 12th episode of SBS's variety show 'My Ugly Duckling' (known as 'Miwoosae'), Lee Beom-soo made an appearance.
During the show, Lee Beom-soo stated, "As many of you know, I've had personal issues over the past 2-3 years. It was a sad and painful period. Recently, it was resolved," revealing that he and Lee Yoon-jin had amicably divorced after two years.
He continued, "There are no winners in a divorce. Both parties are hurt. It's not about my pain, but I feel very sorry for the children and for leaving my family with pain."
The divorce process between Lee Beom-soo and Lee Yoon-jin was not smooth. During the proceedings, Lee Yoon-jin posted revealing messages on social media, leading to numerous rumors. At the time, Lee Yoon-jin claimed, "Our daughter So-eul was banned from entering our Seoul home since last year because she chose to attend middle school abroad," and accused Lee Beom-soo of "leading a bizarre double life, with secret hobbies, and keeping things under lock and key, including phones hidden in socks. This is a betrayal of a family that gave their all. I don't want to know more."
Lee Yoon-jin further added that despite her parents sacrificing their finances to help them through a financial crisis, "My parents, who are nearing their seventies, were insulted by my mother-in-law, who told them to 'raise their daughter better.' They were brought to tears. My parents had to hear insults that should have been directed only at me."
In response, Lee Beom-soo said, "There were many misunderstandings. It was very upsetting from my perspective. But I think it was good to remain silent. I felt too sorry for the kids to speak out. I didn't want to stand out for something that wasn't good. I feel very sorry for the children."
Currently, Lee Beom-soo lives alone in the house he once shared with his family. He personally cleans the rooms of his daughter So-eul and son Da-eul, where traces of his children remain.
Lee Beom-soo shared, "During the lawsuit, our eldest wanted to stay with her mom, and our youngest wanted to stay with me. I can't imagine how much they missed their mom. I tried to make sure they didn't feel alone by taking them to school every day. Even if they didn't show it, they must have missed her. The kids are very mature."
He added, "After reaching an agreement and returning home, I found myself lying on the bed without realizing it. The next day, I woke up feeling like I'd been beaten all over. I thought it was because the tension had released, and I was coming down with something." He continued, "A few days after the agreement, the kids contacted me. They said they missed me. It felt like I laughed with them for the first time in years."
Meanwhile, Lee Beom-soo remarried Lee Yoon-jin in 2010 and had a son and a daughter. However, they announced their separation in March 2024 and proceeded with divorce proceedings. In February, he announced through his agency that they had "concluded the legal process with an amicable agreement."
