SBS's new Friday-Saturday drama 'Brave New World' showcases Lim Ji-yeon captivating audiences with her fierce aura as a 'Joseon villainess.' Previously, she starred in tvN's 'Annoying Love,' which concluded last December, where she portrayed a romance with Lee Jung-jae, who is 18 years her senior. However, the chemistry and overall execution received mixed reviews from viewers. In this new project, she will be paired with Heo Nam-joon, who is three years younger, to present a different romantic dynamic.
Premiering on May 8, 'Brave New World' is a romantic comedy-drama about a nameless actress, Shin Se-ri, possessed by the spirit of a notorious Joseon villainess, and Cha Sa-gye, a ruthless conglomerate known as a 'monster of capitalism.' Directed by Han Tae-seop, known for 'Stove League' and 'Cheer Up,' and written by newcomer Kang Hyun-joo, the drama promises a powerful synergy with trusted actors Lim Ji-yeon (as Kang Dan-sim/Shin Se-ri) and Heo Nam-joon (as Cha Sa-gye), raising anticipation.
Lim Ji-yeon's transformation into the 'Joseon villainess' Kang Dan-sim is capturing attention with her unmatched aura. In the drama, Kang Dan-sim, portrayed by Lim Ji-yeon, is a character who spits when mocked and retaliates when slandered. Despite her humble origins, she rises to the position of a concubine, shaking the foundations of Joseon as a notorious 'villainess.'
Dan-sim, in a fit of rage, throws the bowl of poison, demonstrating her defiance as four court ladies struggle to restrain her. This desperate moment, sensing the end of her life, heightens curiosity about the character 'Kang Dan-sim.' It also raises expectations for the chaos that the 'Joseon villainess' Kang Dan-sim will unleash after awakening in the body of the nameless actress Shin Se-ri in 2026 South Korea.
'Brave New World' premieres on May 8 at 9:50 PM.
