On the January 14th episode of KBS2's variety show 'Mr. House Husband Season 2' (hereafter 'Mr. House Husband'), Park Seo-jin opened the show with a lively performance of 'A Sunny Day.' The episode then delved into the relatable family dynamics of Park Seo-jin's family as they prepared for the Lunar New Year.
As the holiday approached, Park Seo-jin and his sister Hyo-jung traveled to Samcheonpo. However, the mood quickly shifted when they found their mother lying listlessly in her room. Concerned, Park Seo-jin tried to lighten the mood with jokes, but his mother's indifferent response and his father's nagging escalated tensions. Eventually, their mother left the room, heightening the family's stress.
In an effort to lift their mother's spirits, the family rallied together. Hyo-jung used her charm to engage with their mother, while Park Seo-jin and their father busied themselves with preparing traditional holiday dishes. It turned out that their mother was feeling particularly lonely and isolated as an only child during the holiday season. Unaware of her feelings, their father had been pressuring her to prepare for the holiday, leading to raised voices and heightened emotions.
Sensing the tension, Park Seo-jin and his sister decided to buy octopus, the source of the argument, from the market. Despite it being off-season and difficult to find, they stumbled upon some octopus, which seemed to ease the tension. However, upon learning about their mother's loneliness from Hyo-jung, Park Seo-jin felt conflicted, leading to a sibling argument.
A chance encounter with a market vendor helped Park Seo-jin reflect on his mother's feelings. He also bought Hyo-jung's favorite fish, water scorpion, adding anticipation for the next episode.
Previously, Park Seo-jin appeared on KBS2's variety show 'Malja Show,' where he humorously confessed, "I once consulted a lawyer to see if I could remove my sister from the family registry."
He recalled, "My sister had to leave school because of our parents and was preparing for a GED. Despite attending classes and tutoring, she couldn't pass for over three years. I thought it would be faster for her to just attend high school and graduate."
He continued, "I even met with a lawyer to remove her from the registry, but legally, it wasn't possible. Instead, I was told I could sue her. Apparently, she could sue me for assault for all the times she hit me. I thought, 'This is it.'"
Meanwhile, 'Mr. House Husband' Season 2 airs every Saturday at 10:35 PM. Starting January 28th, it will move to 9:20 PM.
