Hwang Jae-gyun Signs Exclusive Contract with SM C&C, Transitioning from Baseball Star to Broadcaster


Hwang Jae-gyun has signed an exclusive contract with SM C&C. After marrying T-ara's Jiyeon in 2022 and facing multiple rumors of separation and divorce, Hwang officially divorced in October 2024. He announced his retirement from professional baseball in December 2025.

On the 12th, SM C&C stated, "Hwang Jae-gyun is not only a sports star but also has the potential to be a competitive broadcaster. We plan to actively support him in various fields so that his genuine and witty personality can shine."

Hwang began his professional career in 2006 with the Hyundai Unicorns. He played for the Heroes and Lotte Giants, establishing himself as a leading infielder in the KBO. In 2017, he made his Major League debut with the San Francisco Giants as the first Korean player for the team. He later joined kt wiz and continued to perform impressively until he concluded his 20-year baseball career in 2025.

Known for his athletic prowess and friendly image, Hwang has been active in broadcasting and content creation since his retirement. Recently, he appeared on MBC's 'The Manager' and YouTube's 'Jjanhan Hyung,' and is set to feature on JTBC's 'Yes Man.'

Meanwhile, SM C&C, which Hwang has signed with, is home to other notable figures such as Kang Ho-dong, Jun Hyun-moo, Seo Jang-hoon, Jang Sung-kyu, Jang Do-yeon, and Jang Young-ran.
