Dex Takes Lead Role in 'The House of Ghosts', A Japan-Korea Collaboration

Dex (Kim Jin-young) has been cast as the lead in the film 'The House of Ghosts', based on a short story by renowned Japanese author Banana Yoshimoto. Known for his role in 'Tetonam', Dex is set to showcase his 'Egen-nam' charm in this new project.

According to TenAsia's report on the 13th, Dex will star as the protagonist Yoon-seong in the Japan-Korea collaborative film 'The House of Ghosts'.

Dex's character, Yoon-seong, appears indifferent on the outside but is actually attentive and warm-hearted. In the film, Yoon-seong grows closer to the female lead, Se-jeong, amidst a peculiar daily life with a ghost couple. However, he chooses to leave for his future and growth, eventually reuniting with Se-jeong as a more mature individual.

Industry insiders cite Dex's popularity in both Korea and Japan, as well as his potential for growth as an actor, as reasons for his casting. Dex is reportedly taking acting classes to improve his skills and is committed to approaching his role with sincerity.

'The House of Ghosts', originally published as a novel in 2003, is being reimagined as a 'gourmet romance film' set in Chuncheon, blending everyday life with fantasy. Produced by Jo-A Films, known for works like 'Memories of the Dead End' and 'Oksoo Station Ghost', the film is planned as a global project with releases in both Japan and Korea.

Dex, a former UDT member, gained recognition for his striking looks and masculine charm on the 2020 variety show 'Fake Men 2'. He further increased his visibility through 'Bloody Game' and 'Single's Inferno 2'. Dex has solidified his presence as an entertainer beyond YouTube, appearing in series like 'Born to Travel the World' and 'Zombieverse'. He also served as an MC for 'Single's Inferno 4' and showcased his friendly appeal on 'Unnie's Fresh Delivery'.

In 2023, Dex received the Rookie Award at the MBC Entertainment Awards and the Best New Male Entertainer Award at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards. He began his acting career with the series 'Tarot: Seven Stories' last year and recently appeared in the drama 'Eye Shopping', which concluded on the 12th of this month.
