The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards took place on the 5th of May at the COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul. Hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Park Bo-gum, and Suzy, the event was broadcast live on JTBC, JTBC2, and JTBC4, with digital streaming available on Prism, Naver TV, and Chizich.
In the television category, Yum Hye-ran won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in 'Poksak Sokatsuda', marking her second consecutive win. Overcome with emotion, she expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you so much. Mom, I won an award. It's not a department award, it's a grand award."
She continued, "I want to applaud my fellow nominees. I am always inspired by them. There are so many outstanding supporting actresses, regardless of age, and I send my deepest respect to the young actors." Yum also thanked her on-screen family, saying, "I especially want to thank the mother and daughter who were with me as Aesun and Gwansik in this project."
In the Best Supporting Actor category, Choi Dae-hoon was announced as the winner among nominees Kim Jun-han ('Good Partner'), Noh Jae-won ('Squid Game Season 2'), Yoon Kyung-ho ('Trauma Center'), and Hyun Bong-sik ('Good or Bad Dongjae').
Choi expressed his surprise and gratitude, stating, "Wow, this feels like a hidden camera prank. I sincerely thank the Baeksang committee for this precious and honorable award. This might be the best Children's Day gift I've ever received."
He added, "I must not have received many awards in my life because I'm so nervous. It's been an unforgettable journey filled with concerns about whether I could do well and not cause trouble. I started acting to see people happy and entertained, and now I find myself filled with emotion and gratitude. I will continue to comfort and entertain everyone. I promise to fulfill my responsibilities and duties as an actor in every project."
Choi concluded with a heartfelt message to his family watching at home, "I love you all. To my wife, who entrusted her life to me, this should be a good 10th wedding anniversary gift, right?" His closing remark, quoting a famous line, brought laughter to the audience.
