TenAsia reporter Ryu Ye-ji takes a proper look at the entertainment industry incidents and accidents that are attracting the most attention.

Realistic dramas that perfectly examine reality are always popular. Of course, even if the reality is low, if fantasy elements add fun, it attracts attention, but if the historical research gets to the point where it interferes with immersion in the play, it is a problem.

SBS' Friday-Saturday drama 'Chaebol ‘Chaebol

In the play, Ahn Bo-hyun plays the role of Jin Yi-soo, a parachute detective and a third-generation childish tycoon who loves having fun. Ji-Hyun Park takes on the role of Kang-Hyeon Lee, an 'investigation geek' who loves investigating the best and the leader of Gangha Police Station's Strong Team 1. Kang Sang-jun transformed into detective Park Joon-young, Kim Shin-bi played the youngest member of the team, Choi Kyeong-jin, and Jeong Ga-hee played Yoon Ji-won, an autopsy at the National Institute of Forensic Science.

While investigating various incidents, the five characters appear in many scenes in the play preserving and inspecting the scene. However, there were several moments where immersion was broken due to insufficient verification of reality.

In episode 2, which aired on the 27th, Jeong Ga-hee, who played the role of National Forensic Service autopsy investigator Yoon Ji-won, appeared for the first time. In the play, Yoon Ji-won appeared at the murder scene wearing high heels and a jumpsuit. When searching for the victim's cause of death, we only wore protective overshoes and latex gloves. The same was true for the rest of the actors playing detective roles.

Usually, special attire is worn when conducting an investigation at a fire or murder scene. You must wear a forensic vest, hat, mask, and plastic pants. In particular, the scene in the play was the first visit to the scene since the murder occurred. There will be a lot of evidence left behind, including the suspect's footprints and fingerprints. Autopsy doctors and detectives were not properly dressed as numbered traffic signs had not yet been erected. In the play, only the forensic investigation team police officers were wearing proper uniforms.

In episode 4, which aired on the 3rd, there was a scene where Park Ji-hyun, the head of the homicide team, touched the murdered body with her hands. He touched the corpse with his own hands, rather than using gloves or cloth.

In addition, even though there were four detectives at the scene, no one set up a police line (a police control line that controls access to preserve the scene). The deceased was lying in the middle of the museum, and visitors were free to roam around the area. Other than blocking the entrance, no proper site preservation was done.

‘Chaebol If one focuses too much on perfect historical research, the writer may lack creative power. However, even for those who do not know the professional characteristics of detectives, autopsy doctors, etc., there are some things that should not deviate from common sense. Since it deals with a specific occupational group, shouldn’t basic historical research be reflected?
