Director Hong Sang-soo showed his presence by being nominated at the Berlin International Film Festival for four consecutive years.
According to the Berlin International Film Festival on the 23rd (local time), director Hong Sang-soo's new film 'In Water' has been invited to the Encounters section at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival to be held next month.
Director Hong was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival for four consecutive years with 'Inside the Water', following 'The Woman Who Ran', 'Introduction', and 'The Novelist's Film'.
'Inside the Water' stars Shin Seok-ho, Ha Seong-guk, and Kim Seung-yoon, and Hong Sang-soo's lover, actress Kim Min-hee, served as the production manager.
Carlo Chatrian, artistic director of the festival, said of 'In the Water', "It is as simple as usual, but we have chosen a much more intense approach."
Attention is being paid to whether Kim Min-hee, director Hong Sang-soo's lover and the production manager of 'Inside the Water', will accompany the Berlinale once again.
The works of two Korean directors were listed side by side in the competition section, the main section of this year's Berlin International Film Festival. These are 'The Shadowless Tower' by director Jang Ryul, a second generation Korean-Chinese Korean, and 'Past Lives' by Korean-Canadian director Celine Song. Among them, actor Teo Yoo played the lead role in 'Past Life'.
The Berlin Film Festival is considered one of the world's three largest film festivals, along with Cannes and Venice. This year's film festival will be held from the 16th to the 26th of next month.
