Park Chan-wook's 'decision to break up' fails to be nominated for US Academy Awards

Director Park Chan-wook's film 'Decision to Break Up' was not selected as a finalist in the International Feature Film category at the American Academy Awards.

On the 24th (local time), the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science (AMPAS) nominated 'All Is Good on the Western Front' (Germany) and 'Argentina, 1985' as nominees in the International Feature Film category for the 95th Academy Awards. (Argentina) 'Close' (Belgium) 'EO' (Poland) 'The Quiet Girl' (Ireland) 5 films were selected.

Unfortunately, 'Resolution to Break Up', which was listed among the 15 preliminary candidates announced on the 21st of last month, was not selected as a final candidate.

'Decision to Break Up' was a finalist in the previously held Golden Globes and Critics' Choice Awards, but also failed to win an award. At the Golden Globes, 'Argentina, 1985' won the trophy, and at the Critics' Choice Awards, 'RRR' beat 'Decision to Break Up'.

'Decision to Break Up', director Park Chan-wook's first new film in 6 years since the 2016 film 'The Handmaiden', is about a detective named Hae-joon (played by Park Hae-il) who investigates a case where a middle -aged man fell to his death from a mountain, and the dead man's wife, Seo-rae (It depicts the romance of Tang Wei).

'Decision to Break Up' attracted attention by winning the Best Director trophy at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year.

Meanwhile, this year's Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles (LA), USA on March 12. The film with the most Academy nominations this year is 'Everything Everywhere All at Once.'
