Yumi's Cells Season 3 Finale: A Heartwarming Wedding and Global Success
The final episodes, 7 and 8, were released on the 4th, showcasing the perfect happy ending as Yumi (played by Kim Go-eun) and Soonrok (played by Kim Jae-won) tied the knot.
Despite the complications with Jenny (played by Jeon So-young) and her desire to avoid further confusion, Yumi initially rejected Soonrok's confession. However, Soonrok, unable to imagine Yumi marrying someone else, mustered the courage to confess again. His heartfelt words, "No matter how much I think about it, I like you, writer. It's pathetic that I realized it now, but I think I've liked you from the beginning," touched viewers deeply. His sincerity, "I think I'll regret it," moved Yumi's heart.
Soonrok proposed to Yumi. When Yumi questioned how he could be so sure when they barely knew each other after less than a month, Soonrok replied that he wouldn't have pursued her again if he wasn't sure. His confidence, stemming from a first-time experience in his life, was endearing. Yumi's growth, realizing that no love is the same and that comparing past experiences is meaningless, left a lasting impression. The happy ending, with Yumi and Soonrok's wedding amidst the enthusiastic support of their cells, brought smiles to viewers who had cheered for Yumi's love and growth.
The series is also enjoying global popularity. As of the second week of release, it ranked first for two consecutive weeks on Rakuten Viki in the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. It also achieved first place for two weeks in a row on Mongolia's Inche TV and ranked third for two consecutive weeks on Japan's Disney Plus.
