Cool's Kim Sung-soo Shares Heartfelt Story About His Daughter on 'Dongchimi'
On the October 25th episode of MBN's 'Dongchimi', the theme was 'A well-raised daughter is worth ten sons'. Kim Sung-soo cautiously began to speak, reminiscing about his daughter.
He started with, “Daughter, if you're in pain, please say so,” recalling her childhood.
“She was unusually mature from a young age. Usually, there's a difficult period during adolescence, but for my daughter, it didn't even last a month,” he said, surprising those around him.
He then shared a memorable incident. “One day, she hurt her foot while reaching for something on a high shelf. She didn't seem to be in much pain, so I just applied a patch and said, 'You'll be fine.'
The story naturally transitioned to the present. Kim Sung-soo recalled a difficult time, saying, “Once, during a phone call, I was so exhausted that I blurted out, 'I feel like I'm going to die from exhaustion.'”
He continued, “My daughter took it seriously and cried, saying, 'What will I do if I lose you too?'” This moved the studio to tears.
He also mentioned his past struggles, including a failed business.
The episode also featured an audio message from his daughter, Hyebin. She said, “To me, Dad is the coolest and most handsome person in the world, someone I wouldn't trade for anyone. Never lose confidence. I hope you stay healthy and happy for a long time. I love you,” turning the scene into a tearful one.
Meanwhile, Kim Sung-soo married in 2004 and had a daughter, but divorced in 2010. His ex-wife raised their daughter until she tragically passed away in a stabbing incident in 2012. Kim remarried in 2014 but separated after a year and has since raised his daughter alone.
