Kim Jong-kook Shares Thoughts on Appearance Ranking with Choo Sung-hoon and Daesung
On the 21st, the press conference for the new SBS Plus variety show 'The Way of the Manly Men' was broadcast online. Attendees included Choo Sung-hoon, Kim Jong-kook, Daesung, and PD Kim Jin-ho.
'The Way of the Manly Men' is a program that captures the travel stories of men following their instincts. Directed by Kim Jin-ho, known for SBS's 'Law of the Jungle' and 'Jungle's Meal', the show is highly anticipated for its dynamic trio.
When asked about the criteria for being a 'manly man', Choo Sung-hoon stated, "The first is stamina, and the second is someone who can handle their alcohol." Kim Jong-kook added, "I'm not interested in being a 'manly man'. The title suggests it, but we don't obsess over it. I believe a true 'manly man' is someone with the right mindset, someone with integrity, even if they're not the strongest." Daesung humorously noted, "On the show, you can't leave out the 'manly man' aspect. The two older brothers never leave it out, and I've learned a lot about being a 'manly man' from them."
They also shared stories about challenging moments during their spontaneous travels. Kim Jong-kook and Choo Sung-hoon said, "There was nothing difficult." Choo Sung-hoon added, "Everything was fun. The food was delicious, and there was no stress." Daesung mentioned, "Before filming, I got a promise from the production team for separate rooms, but it wasn't kept. However, it wasn't a problem. Sharing a room turned out to be better. There was no time to feel uncomfortable as we would fall asleep right after filming."
Regarding the nickname 'Kim Jong-kook who tames Choo Sung-hoon', Kim Jong-kook explained, "I think it's because I often joke around with my older brother. We try to have fun, so we tease each other a lot. My brother responds well, which creates a fun chemistry. He reacts as much as I tease him. I think the sight of two older guys bickering will be entertaining to watch."
In a previously released video, Kim Jong-kook appeared flustered when asked to rank appearances. He commented, "It's like supply without demand; I don't think anyone is curious." He continued, "It's a matter of preference. People say we look like brothers. We share many similarities, just with slight differences. It's like the same dish with different sauces. Ranking us doesn't have any meaning."
'The Way of the Manly Men in Kyushu' premieres on the 21st at 8:40 PM.
