Veteran actor Choi Bul-am, who has recently been the subject of health concerns, is set to make a public appearance.

MBC announced that a special two-part documentary titled 'Paha, This is Choi Bul-am' will air on May 5th and 12th. The documentary will explore Choi's life and acting career through a radio-style format, offering a unique perspective by revisiting his extensive career as a playlist. This innovative approach is expected to provide an immersive experience, akin to listening to a radio program.

Choi Bul-am, who has long emphasized the 'spirit of the clown' in acting, believes that actors share the weight of life with the public, offering laughter and comfort. In preparing for this documentary, Choi expressed his gratitude to his audience, stating, "I want to thank the viewers who have loved me for so long. That is the heart of a clown." The documentary will also reveal Choi's unique acting secrets, including his meticulous attention to detail and his method of bringing scripts to life.

Actor Park Sang-won, who played Choi's eldest son in the MBC drama 'You and I' (1997-1998), will serve as the presenter. Known for his work in theater, dance, musicals, and photography, Park will transform into a radio DJ, showcasing his charm with his soft and friendly voice. He will also recreate Choi's iconic 'Paha~' laughter, adding to the documentary's appeal.

The documentary will also reveal Choi's surprising charm during his youth. Novelist Kim Chun-bok, a high school classmate of Choi, recalled him as "a standout, similar to James Dean, the idol of young people." Actor Park Geun-hyung, who worked with Choi at the National Theater, described him as "the most handsome and stylish man" he had ever seen, offering a glimpse into Choi's youthful allure.

Actress Go Doo-shim shared a different perspective, saying, "When I think of Choi Bul-am, I think of a warm, rustic, earthenware-like father who listens to everything." Other actors like Chae Shi-ra and Jung Kyung-ho, who have worked with Choi, will also share their memories and stories, adding depth to the documentary.

In the teaser for 'Paha, This is Choi Bul-am,' the actor showcases a different side of himself, raising anticipation for the full broadcast.

Meanwhile, Choi Bul-am stepped down from 'Korean Table,' a show he led for 14 years, last year. This led to health speculations when Baek Il-seob mentioned on 'Altoran' that Choi had not been in contact and hoped for his quick recovery.

Choi's representatives clarified, "He underwent back surgery last year and is currently in rehabilitation. His health is stable."
