ENA's 'The Scout' Set to Transform Hidden Talents into Global Stars with Star-Studded Master Lineup
Set to premiere on May 8, ENA's growth-oriented music project 'THE SCOUT: Reborn Stars' (hereafter referred to as 'The Scout') aims to discover and nurture 'hidden gems' in the music industry. These are individuals with potential who have yet to shine. The program will feature five masters who will guide 16 muses to become global stars, offering insights into what makes 'The Scout' a must-watch.
Ahead of the show's debut, Lee Seung-chul, known for his expertise as a judge, highlighted the unique aspects of 'The Scout' compared to other audition programs. He explained, "If other programs are like creating different dishes with the same ingredients, 'The Scout' uses entirely different ingredients. Each participant will bring their own flavor to various music genres," promising a unique auditory experience. He emphasized the importance of the 'hidden gems,' stating, "These are talented individuals whose abilities have not yet been recognized. The masters will identify and enhance their value, turning them into polished gems."
The muses, once discovered, will undergo a 'makeover' under the masters' guidance to become 'real' artists. Red Velvet's Wendy emphasized the need for dramatic transformation, stating, "It's not just about improving skills; it's about overall growth in stage presence, expression, and atmosphere." Kim Jae-joong, transitioning from a 'K-pop original global star' to a producer, highlighted the importance of 'identity makeover,' stressing that without understanding their identity, muses risk becoming 'similar people.' Young K also agreed on the importance of 'identity' and hinted at enhancing the muses' 'self-producing' capabilities.
'The Scout' focuses on the 'makeover' process of the muses, emphasizing 'growth' rather than elimination. Young K commented, "If elimination is a constant threat, it might overshadow the creation of impactful performances. But this could lead to missing out on essential growth aspects. I'm glad 'The Scout' is structured this way." Wendy also added her support, saying, "It will be an opportunity for participants who have experienced failure or setbacks to grow again."
Finally, Lee Seung-chul addressed the question of what kind of 'real singer' he hopes to present to the public through this program, saying, "The term 'real singer' is a contradiction. A singer's music is chosen by fans, not graded by singing ability. That's why 'The Scout' was created. There are only choices, no eliminations!" Choo Sung-hoon added, "If the muses succeed and perform on big stages, I hope they remember us (the master team) with gratitude," expressing his genuine support and encouragement for the muses.
'The Scout' will premiere on Friday, May 8, at 8 PM on ENA and will air every Friday thereafter.
