Actor Lee Hoon Opens Up About Career Struggles on 'Ask Anything'

Actor Lee Hoon shares his struggles with his acting career.

On the 361st episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Anything', airing on the 20th at 8 PM, actor Lee Hoon appears to discuss his career challenges amidst repeated project cancellations.

Lee Hoon begins by stating, "For the past three years, projects have continuously fallen through, leaving me unable to work." He reveals that a drama scheduled for 2024 was canceled, a 2025 U.S. project was indefinitely postponed, and a project he prepared for this year was halted due to budget issues, extending his hiatus. He candidly admits, "If I can't work as an actor, I might have to give it up."

He expresses frustration, saying, "When I decide to take on a role, I dedicate all my time to preparation, but if the project falls through, I can't engage in any economic activity." He shares the disappointment of losing a Hollywood film role after losing 10kg for a Korean killer team leader role, only for the drama he was cast in afterward to be canceled. He also bulked up over 10kg for another project, which was also canceled, adding to his dismay. Lee Hoon states, "Some might say I'm complaining, but it's a real misunderstanding. It's a torment of hope, unable to quit or continue working."

Hearing his story, Lee Soo-geun empathizes, saying, "I completely understand," while Seo Jang-hoon firmly advises, "You must continue acting." Seo Jang-hoon emphasizes, "Your career is too valuable to waste," and suggests Lee Hoon should actively promote his image as an 'actor who tells life stories.' He adds practical advice, "You need to lower your pride and seize opportunities first. Once people see that, more offers will come your way."

Meanwhile, Lee Soo-geun jokes, "How about changing your name from Lee Hoon to 'Divorce'?" bringing laughter. He also hints at a big opportunity coming, saying, "I don't usually say this, but something big is coming, either this July or next." The playful banter between Lee Soo-geun and Lee Hoon adds a light-hearted touch to the show.
