Korean YouTuber Choigo-gi Introduces Longtime Girlfriend on TV Show

Korean YouTuber Choigo-gi, also known as Choi Beom-kyu, recently introduced his girlfriend on a TV show.

On the October 14th episode of TV Chosun's 'X's Private Life,' Yu Gyeol-ip (Yu Yerin), who is seven years post-divorce, appeared in the studio to observe the daily life of her ex-husband, Choigo-gi, after their separation.

During the episode, Yu Gyeol-ip explained that she granted custody of their daughter to Choigo-gi due to economic reasons, believing he was better suited for the role. Choigo-gi shared that he obtained a forklift license two years ago to support his daughter, recalling, "In the early days of our marriage, I had a lot of money. But overnight, my channel with 700,000 subscribers disappeared," which led to his income being cut by more than half. Having grown up in a divorced family, Choigo-gi expressed his desire for his daughter not to experience the same lack, choosing forklift driving for its flexible hours.

Choigo-gi also introduced his girlfriend, whom he has been dating for five years. His daughter refers to her as "mom." Choigo-gi explained, "My girlfriend is single, but she's been with us since Sol-ip was seven. Initially, she was called 'aunt,' but at some point, she started calling her 'mom.'"

Yu Gyeol-ip acknowledged knowing about Choigo-gi's relationship, saying, "It felt strange rather than upsetting when my daughter called her 'mom' even in front of me during visitation."

Choigo-gi's girlfriend shared, "We first connected through social media. I was a fan of his, and he liked one of my posts. I didn't expect him to read my DM, but he replied, and when we met, we had great conversations and he was very kind." She has been working as the PD for Choigo-gi's parenting channel for the past two years.
