Park Seo-jin's Sibling Drama: From Hospital Bed to Market Escapade
During the episode, Nam Yoo-jung expressed her ambition to become a regular on 'Salimnam,' stating, "I can show you everything. I have many celebrity friends in the neighborhood and live close to my parents, so I can show you almost anything." Park Seo-jin, feeling threatened, retorted, "This is not an easy spot. You have to reveal everything about your family and even plastic surgery," to which Nam Yoo-jung responded with her unique lip-splitting talent, bringing laughter to the set.
The VCR segment drew attention as it showed Park Seo-jin's sister, Hyo-jung, lying in a hospital bed. After a recent car accident, Hyo-jung was wearing a brace from her neck to her arm and was hospitalized for observation. The doctor explained, "In cases like Hyo-jung's, where the accident occurs unexpectedly, there can be sudden damage leading to spinal nerve paralysis or other serious conditions." Park Seo-jin, initially relieved by her sister's outward appearance, was shocked by the doctor's warning.
After being discharged, Hyo-jung continued her recovery at Park Seo-jin's home. With Hyo-jung unable to move, household chores fell to Park Seo-jin, who humorously showcased his domestic skills for the first time in two years on 'Salimnam.' Hyo-jung frequently called on Park Seo-jin using a personal alarm, requesting water and phone calls to their mother. Despite recalling how Hyo-jung had cared for him in the past, Park Seo-jin was taken aback when Hyo-jung asked to be carried to the bathroom. Successfully lifting his 80kg sister, Park Seo-jin struggled to the bathroom, only to end in a comedic fall.
Park Seo-jin even cooked porridge for Hyo-jung, but she refused it, claiming a lack of appetite. Concerned by her loss of appetite, Park Seo-jin's worry grew. Despite her condition, Hyo-jung continued to playfully summon her brother with a recorder and a gong, testing Park Seo-jin's patience until he finally snapped. Hyo-jung, feeling dejected, promised not to call him again, while Park Seo-jin regretted his outburst, realizing she might need him due to her discomfort.
When Hyo-jung attempted to wash her hair alone and fell from the bed, Park Seo-jin's heart softened. He devised a plan to transport her to the bathroom using his new blanket, but the blanket tore under her weight, leaving Park Seo-jin in despair. After much struggle, they finally reached the bathroom, where Park Seo-jin gently washed her hair.
Hyo-jung's final wish was to see the ocean. Despite his gruff demeanor, Park Seo-jin tenderly helped her with her socks and pushed her wheelchair, fulfilling her wish. As they admired the sea, Hyo-jung, looking frail, requested, "This is my last wish. Carry me," reminiscent of a dramatic scene from 'Autumn in My Heart.' Park Seo-jin, both amused and sympathetic, attempted to carry her but ended up dropping her, causing laughter in the studio.
Later, Hyo-jung expressed another 'last wish' to visit the market, claiming that eating octopus would remind her of family love. Softened by her words, Park Seo-jin wheeled her to the market, where she eagerly ordered assorted fried foods. While Park Seo-jin briefly left for the restroom, a 'Sixth Sense'-like twist unfolded. Hyo-jung, who had been sitting in a wheelchair, stood up and walked away. When Park Seo-jin returned, he found her casually eating a hot dog. Sensing something amiss, Park Seo-jin demanded to see her medical report. Feeling cornered, Hyo-jung removed her leg brace and sprinted away, leaving the studio in chaos.
The truth soon emerged. During a hospital visit, while Park Seo-jin stepped out to take a call, the doctor had informed Hyo-jung that her condition wasn't severe and would improve in 1-2 weeks. Unaware of this, Park Seo-jin had fallen for Hyo-jung's playful scheme. Hyo-jung admitted, "My shoulder and neck were genuinely injured, but my leg was a ruse," revealing her mischievous desire to experience her brother's care. She concluded, "What I remember most is my brother trimming my nails and washing my hair."
