Lee Sung-kyung Opens Up About Her Musical Dreams Despite Past Criticism

Lee Sung-kyung, who previously faced criticism for her singing in 'Aladdin,' has revealed her aspirations to become a musical actress.

On the October 3rd episode of KBS2's music talk show 'The Seasons - Sung Si-kyung's Ear Boyfriend,' guests included Yoon Jong-shin, Lee Sung-kyung, and Lee Jae-hoon.

Yoon Jong-shin opened the show with emotional performances of 'Tired Day' and 'Before Confession.' He congratulated the new MC, Sung Si-kyung, with a bouquet, showcasing their close friendship. The duo reminisced about their musical collaborations, mentioning hits like 'You Were Impressive,' 'On the Street,' 'One More Goodbye,' and 'Tomorrow's Task.' Reflecting on his music career, Yoon Jong-shin said, "I once thought of my peak music-making days as a continent. Now, it's more like an island," clarifying that it's not negative but rather about creating deeper, more intimate music with his fans. He then performed 'Island,' leaving a profound impact on the audience.

In the 'Two People' segment, actress Lee Sung-kyung, known for her versatility in acting and singing, appeared. Having won the Rookie Award at the '10th Korea Musical Awards' for her role in 'Aladdin,' Lee shared, "It was the first time I cried after receiving an award." She expressed her long-standing dream of becoming a musical actress, a passion she had even before acting, and her dedication to perfecting her craft. When asked by Sung Si-kyung about her much-talked-about six-pack abs, Lee humorously revealed, "I've had them for over a decade," surprising everyone.

Lee Sung-kyung wowed the audience with her powerful rendition of 'A Whole New World' and showcased her vocal range with Beyoncé's 'Love On Top,' receiving enthusiastic applause. She also performed a romantic duet of Kim Dong-ryul's 'Miracle' with Sung Si-kyung, displaying perfect musical synergy.

Lee Jae-hoon, making his first music show appearance in 14 years, performed 'The Reason I Wanted You' and 'Lucifer's Excuse,' impressing with high-energy b-boying choreography. He humorously shared, "I lost weight and styled my hair to resemble my look from 30 years ago," drawing laughter. Sung Si-kyung praised his timeless stage presence, calling him "the answer to pop vocals." Lee Jae-hoon revealed he lost 10kg in just three weeks to recreate his prime look, astonishing everyone.

Lee Jae-hoon engaged with the audience by responding to their stories and gifting impromptu songs, showcasing his wit and charm. He also performed Cool's beloved hits like 'Small Waiting,' 'Longing,' and 'Before It Gets Sad,' with Sung Si-kyung and Lee Sung-kyung joining him on stage, forming a 2026 version of Cool, delivering a concert-like experience.
