'New Release Pyeonstorang' Moves to Prime Time: Competes with Major Dramas

The popular Korean variety show 'New Release Pyeonstorang' is set to enter the Friday night prime time slot, competing with major network dramas. The show announced that Lee Chan-won will make a special return with a unique concept.

KBS2's 'New Release Pyeonstorang' is a culinary observation variety program where well-known 'taste experts' from the entertainment industry take on the challenge of becoming 'Pyeonchefs.' They share their daily lives and introduce delicious menus they wish to share with others.

Starting April 3, 2026, 'Pyeonstorang' will air every Friday at 9:40 PM. The show originally aired at this time when it first premiered in October 2019 but was moved to 8:30 PM in 2022. Now, after four years, it returns to its original time slot.

During this time slot, SBS and MBC air their Friday-Saturday dramas. MBC is set to premiere '21st Century Grand Lady,' starring IU and Byun Woo-seok, following 'Your Glorious Season.' Meanwhile, SBS's 'God and Law Office,' starring Yoo Yeon-seok and Esom, has surpassed double-digit ratings.

'Pyeonstorang' has been known for its impressive guest lineup, showcasing the unexpected charms of various stars across genres. From the multi-talented Lee Jung-hyun to 'Chanto Chef' Lee Chan-won, 'National Son' Kim Jae-joong, and 'Pure Chef' Kim Kang-woo, many stars have become more relatable to the public through the show. Recently, national actor Park Shin-yang and Yano Shiho, mother of Sarang, have joined as Pyeonchefs, drawing significant attention. With the schedule change, viewers are eager to see which stars will share their culinary lives next.

The production team stated, "We are moving to 9:40 PM on Friday nights to meet our viewers. We will continue to do our best to showcase what 'Pyeonstorang' does best and what viewers expect from us. We ask for your continued interest and support for 'Pyeonstorang' at 9:40 PM."

The show also teased an exciting lineup of new Pyeonchefs. The production team revealed, "In addition to existing Pyeonchefs like Lee Jung-hyun, Kim Jae-joong, and Jang Min-ho, we are joined by Kim Yong-bin, a rising star in the trot scene with a strong fan base. Lee Chan-won, whom everyone has been waiting for, will also return with a special concept. Additionally, actor Ji Seung-hyun, who has gained attention as a hot new male Pyeonchef, will join. A newlywed couple at the center of attention will also debut as Pyeonchefs. Recently joined Yano Shiho's family, the much-talked-about Son Tae-jin and his parents, and Oh Sang-jin and Nam Bo-ra, who are preparing for childbirth, will continue with new episodes."

'New Release Pyeonstorang' will air every Friday at 9:40 PM starting April 3.
