South Korean broadcaster Kim Gura has revealed that hidden debt issues were a significant factor in his divorce from his ex-wife.

On the October 31st episode of TV Chosun's variety show 'X's Private Life,' Jin Hyun-geun and Gil Yeon-ju, a couple who divorced two years ago, appeared on the segment 'Divorce Consideration Camp.'

The couple, who divorced in March last year, shared their story. In a pre-interview, Gil Yeon-ju disclosed, "I got pregnant immediately after my first relationship with my husband. He proposed marriage, promising to take responsibility, but his family refused both the wedding and the formal meeting of families." She added, "My mother advised me to end it, calling it a strange family, but we ended up only taking wedding photos without a ceremony."

Gil Yeon-ju further revealed that she discovered her husband's debt issues only after marriage. "Around the last month of my pregnancy, debt collection notices started arriving. Initially, it was about 3 million won, but it increased to 10 million won the following month, totaling 50 million won. After registering our marriage, the notices started coming to me as well," she exposed.

Hearing this, Kim Gura shared, "I also divorced due to similar issues. The amount is widely known to be 1.7 billion won, but it started at around 1 billion won and kept increasing."

He continued, "The important thing is that sometimes the exact amount of debt isn't disclosed. Lies beget more lies. How many times did he lie from 3 million to 50 million won? It would have been better to be honest. I really can't understand it," he criticized.

Kim Gura emphasized, "The reason I'm raising my voice is because, having been in that situation, the person involved can go crazy."

Meanwhile, Kim Gura remarried in 2020 to a woman 12 years his junior and welcomed a daughter after his 2015 divorce.
