Kim Hee-jung Shines as Oh Jung-ran in 'Red Pearl', Stirring Drama with Intense Performance

Actress Kim Hee-jung takes on the role of 'Oh Jung-ran' in the drama 'Red Pearl'.

Kim Hee-jung portrays the multifaceted character of Oh Jung-ran, who uses any means necessary to maintain her position within the power dynamics of the Adel Group, with sharp emotional acting, solidifying her as a central figure in the story.

In episode 18, Oh Jung-ran leaves a strong impression as she pressures the board members and devises a meticulous strategy to tilt the scales in her favor. Kim Hee-jung vividly imprints the character's personality with her straightforward speech and bold demeanor, showcasing Oh Jung-ran's strong drive and unique presence, even in crisis situations, with the line, “If it doesn't exist, I'll make it.”

In the following episode 19, Oh Jung-ran fully embraces her role as an active player shaking up the game. Particularly, the scene where she cannot contain her anger upon hearing the news of Kim Myung-hee's (played by Park Jin-hee) appointment as president, and wrecks the room, starkly reveals Oh Jung-ran's inner turmoil. Kim Hee-jung elevates the character's credibility by intricately expressing a complex psyche mixed with long-standing inferiority and a sense of crisis.

Most notably, the scene where she throws a glass on the floor and declares, "Just watch, I'll take everything away. The Adel Group and the president's position," signals the beginning of a war within the Adel Group. The tension peaks when Oh Jung-ran, in an attempt to acquire Choi Yoo-na's (played by Chun Hee-joo) shares, offers a 5-carat diamond ring, and upon Choi Yoo-na insulting her son Park Hyun-joon (played by Kang Da-bin), grabs Choi Yoo-na's hair, escalating the drama's intensity.

In episode 20, Oh Jung-ran's ability to seize opportunities amidst changing circumstances stands out. Upon hearing the news of Park Min-joon's (played by Kim Kyung-bo) broken engagement, she laughs, imagining Kim Dan-hee's distress, perfectly embodying a character who would do anything for her son.

By episode 21, Oh Jung-ran becomes even more strategic. She remains undeterred by her husband Park Tae-ho's (played by Choi Jae-sung) reprimands, engages in verbal sparring with Kim Myung-hee, eavesdrops on conversations between Park Tae-ho and Kim Myung-hee, and seizes the opportunity when her son Park Hyun-joon mentions that Choi Yoo-na is the one who stole the design book, driving the drama's narrative forward.
