Premiering on the 14th, 'How to Become a Building Owner in Korea' (hereafter 'Building Owner') is a suspense drama about a debt-ridden building owner who gets involved in a fake kidnapping scheme to protect his family and property. Shim Eun-kyung plays Yona, a Real Capital operative who pressures the character Ki Soo-jong, played by Ha Jung-woo.
How Was Her First Villain Role After Six Years?
Shim Eun-kyung made a strong impression as Yona from the opening scene of the first episode. Her character is introduced by eliminating a construction company official, Jung Chang-soo (played by Son Byung-wook), and ordering the demolition of Changshim Building. Her cold demeanor, accentuated by red-tinted eyes, effectively conveys Yona's chilling personality without lengthy explanations.
In subsequent episodes, she continues to deliver a convincing villain performance. Her ability to evoke chills without changing her expression has been well-received by viewers. Some have praised her saying, "Even with minimal expression changes, she gives me goosebumps," and "Her villain acting is superb." Her fresh portrayal and stable acting skills are earning positive feedback.
However, the show's ratings are somewhat disappointing. 'Building Owner' started with a 4.1% rating and remains in the 3-4% range. This is about a third of the final episode rating of its predecessor, 'Undercover Miss Hong,' which was 12.4%.
Despite the ratings, the performances in the show are noteworthy. Shim Eun-kyung's stable portrayal of her first villain role, along with Ha Jung-woo and Kim Jun-han's realistic acting, adds depth to the drama. Although the initial ratings are lackluster, the actors' performances suggest that the show's future developments are worth watching.
