Dark Desires and Twisted Love: The Shocking Turn of Events in 'Dr. Shin'
A tale of ruthless maternal instincts and tangled affections spirals into an uncontrollable catastrophe.

On the October 21st episode of TV Chosun's 'Dr. Shin' (directed by Park Chae-won, written by Im Sung-han), aired at 10:30 PM, viewers witnessed Hyun Ran-hee (played by Song Ji-in) persuading Shin Ju-shin (played by Jung Yi-chan) to perform a brain change surgery with her daughter, Momo (played by Baek Seo-ra). The episode depicted Ran-hee committing a heinous crime to completely usurp her daughter's life.

Post-surgery, Ran-hee awoke in Momo's body, expressing satisfaction at regaining her youth as she gazed into the mirror. In a bizarre twist, she offered comfort to her bewildered future son-in-law, Shin Ju-shin. Meanwhile, the real Momo's soul, trapped in the aged body of Ran-hee after a scuba diving accident, awoke to a deteriorated state, unable to do more than utter meaningless curses.

Ran-hee's Quest for Youth Leads to Murder

Determined to fully assume Momo's identity, Ran-hee resolved to eliminate her daughter, now inhabiting her original body. She left the real Momo in a cold environment to die, crafting a suicide note to disguise the act as a selfless sacrifice for her daughter, thus concealing her monstrous crime.

After the incident, Ran-hee calmly called emergency services and coldly advised the shocked Shin Ju-shin to accept things as they appeared. She further hinted at the existence of another hidden daughter, intensifying suspicions about her relationship with Geum Bara (played by Joo Se-bin).

Conflicted Affections: The Fate of Shin Ju-shin's Fiancée

Amidst the tragedy, the twisted desires of those around continued unabated. Ha Yong-jung (played by Ahn Woo-yeon) harbored inappropriate feelings for his close friend Shin Ju-shin's fiancée, Momo. Lost in fantasies, he imagined intimate moments with her while playing the contrabass. His brother, James (played by Jeon No-min), chastised him, questioning his unresolved feelings for his best friend's fiancée. Yet, Yong-jung justified his emotions by claiming concern for Momo, suspecting Shin Ju-shin of hiding something.

James, too, stirred the pot by showing overt interest in Geum Bara, 23 years his junior. Previously told by an astrologer that he was destined to marry someone much younger, James reveled in the thought of Bara calling him 'oppa.' He began his pursuit by probing Bara's friend, Kim Jin-joo (played by Chun Young-min), about Bara's relationship status and ideal type, signaling the start of his courtship.
