Tragic Marathon Accident and Reckless Driving Highlighted on JTBC's 'Hanmuncheol's Black Box Review'
The show focuses on a disaster that took place last November during a marathon in Okcheon County, Chungbuk. The released black box footage captures the shocking moment when a truck enters the road where the marathon was taking place and hits 25-year-old runner Kim Jong-yoon. Kim suffered severe head injuries and was taken to the hospital for life support but sadly passed away, leaving the studio in a somber mood.
The production team meets with the bereaved family of the late Kim Jong-yoon to hear about the incident. The family, who rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news, recalls the heartbreaking moment, saying, "It wasn't the face of the brother we knew." They share their painful decision to let their youngest go to reduce further suffering. The family points out safety management issues at the scene, noting that a patrol car meant to protect the runners was absent when the truck entered the lane.
'Hanbli' also examines the damage and loopholes left by irresponsible drunk driving accidents. The footage shows a drunken driver crashing a friend's car into a restaurant's fish tank early on a weekend morning. The investigation reveals that the perpetrator was an illegal immigrant driving an uninsured vehicle and is currently undergoing deportation procedures, causing shock. The informant expresses frustration, stating, "The damage exceeds at least 10 million won, but it's not covered as property damage relief." Kyuhyun raises his voice, hoping the perpetrator will face justice.
Meanwhile, the episode features singer Kim Jang-hoon, who is experiencing another peak in his career, as a guest. Despite never having obtained a driver's license, he shares his tumultuous experiences of being involved in ten traffic accidents, capturing attention. Additionally, unexpected footage of near-miss situations he encountered on the road is revealed, sparking interest.
JTBC's 'Hanmuncheol's Black Box Review' airs on the 11th at 8:50 PM.
