K-Pop Star Soyou Opens Up About Her Challenging Childhood and Thoughts on Marriage
On October 10, the YouTube channel 'Alddaldalhan Chamgyeon' released a video titled 'The Brothers Started Advising... Only to Be Counterattacked by Soyou.' In the video, Soyou engaged in various conversations with broadcaster Heo Kyung-hwan, actor Ahn Jae-hyun, and singer Muzie.
During the episode, Soyou opened up about her painful family history. Reflecting on her childhood, she said, "My family really struggled a lot. We were basic welfare recipients. Hospital visits cost only 1500 won, and the pharmacy was 500 won." She also shared a school story, saying, "In middle school, our house was broken into. I often lost my keys and, fearing my mom's scolding, I would climb in through the window. Someone must have seen me doing that," she laughed.
Soyou also considered freezing her eggs. She recalled, "Around the age of 30, I planned to get healthy and freeze my eggs. But it's not a one-time thing; you have to get injections in your stomach daily. I have a severe fear of needles, so it wasn't easy."
She added, "During the COVID-19 pandemic, I started thinking I didn't want to bring a child into this world. If I don't plan to have children, is there a reason to get married? So naturally, my thoughts on marriage faded."
Towards the end of the video, Soyou described her ideal type as someone dependable. She said, "I like people who speak kindly. I don't like people who swear. I look at the body more than the face. I prefer someone sturdy over someone too skinny."
