Actor and Painter Park Shin-yang Reveals Why He Doesn't Sell His Paintings
On the morning of the 10th, Park Shin-yang appeared as a guest on the Tuesday segment of KBS 1TV's 'Morning Yard'.
Park revealed, "I started painting about 13 to 14 years ago. I held an exhibition in Pyeongtaek 2 to 3 years ago." He is currently studying Western painting at Andong University Graduate School.
Park also discussed his exhibition that combines acting and painting. He explained, "In my first exhibition, I experimented with how the principles of theater could be connected to painting and exhibitions." During the exhibition, Park demonstrated painting live, stating, "It was like moving my studio to the exhibition hall."
Regarding the sale of his paintings, Park said, "I didn't sell any paintings in my first and second exhibitions. The question 'How much is the painting?' is an interesting one. I know many people want to own them."
He continued, "If someone owns it, others can't see it. When I act, it reaches many people who can see and feel it. As someone who has been painting for a long time, I believe a painting is only complete when someone sees and feels it. That's why I'm making this effort." When asked if it's difficult to store large paintings, he humorously replied, "It's quite a predicament. I need a big warehouse." On the suggestion of having a permanent exhibition space, Park laughed and said, "Please make one for me. It's tiring to keep moving them around."
