Rising Star Heo Kyung-hwan Hopes for Regular Slot for 'The Best Mountain'
On the 28th, a production presentation for 'The Best Mountain' was held at the Golden Mouse Hall of the MBC Broadcasting Center in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event was attended by entertainers Yoo Se-yoon, Jang Dong-min, Heo Kyung-hwan, Boom, Yang Se-hyung, and PD Kim Myung-yeop.
MBC's new variety show 'The Best Mountain' is the first of its kind in Korea, featuring intense competition through various missions in the mountains, aiming for the summit.
Yoo Se-yoon highlighted the unique aspects of 'The Best Mountain'. He said, "When you think of a mountain variety show, you might imagine something plain, but there are a lot of mischievous interactions among the cast that contrast with the scenery. These contrasting elements will be a fun point."
The cast also expressed their desire to win the Best Entertainer Award this year. Jang Dong-min said, "I think I will win. The person I see as competition is Yang Se-hyung." He added, "He is very active in other programs, especially doing well in 'Save Me! Holmes'."
Yang Se-hyung named Heo Kyung-hwan as his competition. He explained, "In the past, he only pushed catchphrases, but now he's active in skits, talks, and more. So I think he's the strongest contender." He added, "Of course, I can't give up either. I haven't won in years, and I've been reflecting a lot. I'll try harder."
During the presentation, Heo Kyung-hwan repeatedly expressed his desire for the show to become a regular program, bringing laughter to the event. He said, "It's still a pilot program, so talking about the Best Entertainer Award is premature. It needs to become a regular program and run until December to be considered. If that happens, I'll be the one to win the award."
PD Kim Myung-yeop revealed the target ratings for regular scheduling. He said, "I looked at the 2049 ratings for 'Running Man' and '2 Days & 1 Night', which air at the same time. They were around 2%. Our goal is to exceed 2%." In response, Yoo Se-yoon promised to climb to the top of Achasan Mountain with a monkey face if the ratings goal is met.
'The Best Mountain' will premiere on the 3rd of next month at 6 PM.
