KBS 2TV's New Series 'Simu-myeon Yeonriri' Premieres: A City Family's Hilarious Rural Adventure

Actor Park Sung-woong takes on the challenge of adapting to life in the quirky village of Yeonriri.

Set to premiere on October 26, KBS 2TV's new miniseries 'Simu-myeon Yeonriri' is a comedic family reboot drama. It follows the urban family of Seong Tae-hoon as they struggle to return to Seoul after being unexpectedly relocated to the rural and eccentric Yeonriri.

Directed by Choi Yeon-soo, known for '24-Hour Fitness Club,' 'Crazy Love,' and 'The Ballot,' the series is co-written by Song Jeong-rim, who penned 'Let's Get Married, Mangpong!' and 'Bride of the Typhoon,' and Wang Hye-ji, known for 'Romance Without Love.'

Actors Park Sung-woong and Lee Soo-kyung portray a couple adjusting to rural life, while Lee Seo-hwan and Nam Kwon-ah join as the village chief couple, adding chaos and humor to Yeonriri.

On October 6, stills of the Yeonriri residents were released. Among them, Seong Tae-hoon (played by Park Sung-woong), the 'newbie' in Yeonriri, stands out as he appears bewildered among the villagers. Once a successful career man, Tae-hoon now finds himself struggling as a farmer, facing challenges from the village chief Im Joo-hyung (played by Lee Seo-hwan) and other residents. The series teases a tough adaptation journey, leaving viewers curious about Tae-hoon's fate in Yeonriri.

Another still features the village chief couple Im Joo-hyung and Nam Hye-seon (played by Nam Kwon-ah), along with the 'veteran' residents of Yeonriri, including Lee Sun-ja (played by Lee Sun-hee), the well-informed hardware store owner Wang Dong-sik (played by Park Seok-won), and the mysterious caretaker Noh Hyun-gap (played by Jung Sun-chul). Their formidable presence raises questions about their hostility towards the newcomer Tae-hoon family.

Meanwhile, Choi Woo-jin's transformation into Park Soon-gyeong, Yeonriri's 'ideal groom,' is also highly anticipated. Park Soon-gyeong is smitten with Im Bo-mi (played by Choi Gyu-ri), the only daughter of the village chief couple, forming a love triangle with Tae-hoon's son Seong Ji-cheon (played by Lee Jin-woo), adding intrigue to the plot. The series promises to deliver a rich tapestry of family dynamics, neighborly relations, and youthful romance.

The Yeonriri residents are portrayed by seasoned theater actors like Lee Sun-hee, Park Seok-won, Jung Sun-chul, and Choi Woo-jin, enhancing the show's immersive experience. Their stage-honed performances and diverse character portrayals are expected to bring the village's story to life with depth and realism.

With its vibrant characters and dynamic cast, KBS 2TV's new miniseries 'Simu-myeon Yeonriri' is set to captivate audiences every Thursday night, premiering on October 26 at 9:50 PM.
