TV Personality Kim Joo-ha Opens Up About Son's Trauma from Ex-Husband's Abuse
On the 5th, the channel 'Oh Eun-young's Bucket List' featured a video titled "Finally Met: Why Kim Joo-ha is Grateful to Oh Eun-young (First Confession & Children's Update)."
During the episode, Oh Eun-young and Kim Joo-ha shared a heartfelt conversation over a meal. Oh Eun-young asked about the healing of Kim's eldest son's wounds, "Do you think his scars have healed more compared to when he was younger?"
Kim Joo-ha responded, "I don't think it's over between the kids and their father, even though it's over between me and him. After all, he's still their dad. But my son doesn't think, 'He's bad because he did that to mom.'"
When her son mentioned remembering what he went through, Oh Eun-young empathized, "That's an even deeper wound. Didn't your son struggle a lot when he was young?"
She continued, "My son would hide in the wardrobe for an hour at a time." Oh Eun-young advised, "When parents instill fear through power, it has indescribably negative effects."
Additionally, Kim Joo-ha mentioned, "I refer to my ex-husband as 'EX,' but my son never calls him by his name. He saved his father's contact as 'Fist Betrayer' on his phone."
Kim Joo-ha married in October 2004 and had two children. However, due to her ex-husband's infidelity and violence, she filed for divorce in 2013 after nine years of marriage. Her ex-husband was sentenced to eight months in prison with a two-year probation in 2014, and Kim Joo-ha's divorce was finalized in 2016. She received custody, child support, and 50 million won in alimony, while her ex-husband was ordered to pay 1.021 billion won in property division.
