Anticipation Builds as Lee Sona Emerges as a Top Contender in 'Miss Trot 4' Finale
As the excitement mounts over who will claim the fourth crown, singer Lee Sona is being highlighted as one of the top contenders.
From her very first performance this season, Lee Sona has captivated audiences with her powerful high notes and stable vocal prowess. Her performances have been described as 'a class apart in trot,' earning her early attention and a spot in the finals.
Overcoming the challenges of a long period of obscurity and previous eliminations in 'Miss Trot 2' and 'Miss Trot 3' auditions, she made a strong comeback by winning the Master Preliminary round, earning the nickname 'Jin Sona.'
Draped in a crown and cape at the time, she expressed, “I can feel the weight of the senior masters. I don't know how far I can go, but I will remember this weight and do my best in the next rounds.”
Lee Sona is a skilled practitioner of Gyeonggi Minyo, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 57, and has been dedicated to Korean traditional music for over 20 years. She first encountered the geomungo and Samgomu (three-drum dance) in elementary school and won first place in the Korean traditional music category at the 2004 Gangwon-do Middle and High School Comprehensive Practical Competition, showcasing her talent early on. She followed the 'elite course' of Korean traditional music, attending the National Traditional Arts High School and the Korea National University of Arts.
Her accumulated skills shone in the third round of the finals, where she performed as the ace of the 'Bongjin2' team. Lee Sona delivered a thrilling performance of Hachunhwa's 'Yeongam Arirang' and 'Gangwon-do Arirang,' elevating her team from third to first place in the rankings.
Lee Sona has been praised for creating legendary performances in each round, expanding her fan base. Her vocal skills, honed through traditional music, combined with modern trot sensibilities and her ability to express the narrative of a song, elevate her from a mere contestant to an artist.
All eyes are on what song Lee Sona will choose for her final performance. As she continues her upward trajectory from the semifinals, there is keen interest in whether she will ascend to the throne as the fourth Trot Queen.
Meanwhile, the finale of TV Chosun's 'Miss Trot 4' is scheduled to air today at 9:30 PM.
