Jo Han-chul Returns to the Stage in Riveting Role for 'Big Mother'
'Big Mother' is a gripping narrative about the struggles of journalists at the 'New York Investigation' newspaper as they attempt to expose the machinations of a powerful entity. Written by acclaimed French playwright Mélody Mouret, the play makes its South Korean debut at the Sejong Center M Theater starting on the 30th.
Jo Han-chul takes on the pivotal role of Owen Green, the editor of 'New York Investigation'. Green is a character with a strong belief in journalistic integrity but finds himself in conflict when faced with a formidable political force that holds his weaknesses. Jo is expected to deliver a nuanced portrayal of Green's internal struggle, enhancing the play's engagement.
Jo Han-chul has consistently demonstrated his commanding presence across various genres, including drama, film, and theater, effortlessly transitioning between protagonist and antagonist roles. Notably, he delivered a poignant performance as Kim Sang-hyun, the father of Kim Jae-won (played by Choo Young-woo), in last year's film 'Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight'. His return to the stage after seven years in the play 'Kihyungdo Play' was met with critical acclaim, reaffirming his reputation.
With his unique expressive ability, audiences eagerly anticipate how Jo Han-chul will captivate them once again in 'Big Mother', marking his return to the stage after a year.
Meanwhile, 'Big Mother', featuring Jo Han-chul, will be performed at the Sejong Center M Theater from the 30th of this month until the 25th of next month.
