Korean TV Host Jeon Hyun-moo Praised for Historical Knowledge by Renowned Educator
On the evening of the 2nd, JTBC's 'Talk Pawon 25 Hours' aired a special episode featuring tours of Nairobi, Kenya; La Paz, Bolivia; and Harbin, China, along with a special segment on the stars of the upcoming 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
In honor of Korea's March 1st Independence Movement Day, the show highlighted a historical tour in Harbin, China, retracing the steps of independence activist Ahn Jung-geun. The tour included the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall, which chronicles his life from birth to martyrdom, and significant sites like Harbin Station, where Ahn assassinated Ito Hirobumi.
Amidst this historical interest, director Jang Hang-jun's film 'The Man Who Lives with the King' has surpassed 9 million viewers in just 27 days, creating a cultural phenomenon. The film, set in 1457 Cheongnyeongpo, tells the story of a village chief (played by Yoo Hae-jin) who volunteers for exile to revive his village, and a young dethroned king (played by Park Ji-hoon) in exile.
With growing interest in history, many are visiting the exile site of King Danjong in Yeongwol. Choi Tae-sung praised Jeon Hyun-moo's historical knowledge, stating, "I often see fake intellectuals on TV, but Jeon Hyun-moo's knowledge is genuine. History is easy to forget, but Jeon's memory is exceptional." Jeon responded, "I listen to your lectures during my car rides." Born in 1977, Jeon Hyun-moo is 49 years old, a graduate of Yonsei University, and known for passing three major broadcasting exams.
