'Undercover Miss Hong' Continues to Captivate Audiences with Record Ratings

The drama 'Undercover Miss Hong,' starring actress Park Shin-hye who debuted in 2003, is continuing its successful run.

As of the 22nd, the 12th episode of tvN's weekend drama 'Undercover Miss Hong' has aired, securing the top spot in viewership ratings across all channels, including terrestrial networks, and in the 2049 demographic for its time slot. According to the FUNdex, the official platform of Good Data Corporation, the drama also ranked first in the overall TV drama and non-drama categories for the third week of February. Additionally, the 11th episode of 'Undercover Miss Hong' achieved its highest viewership rating yet, breaking into double digits with 10.6%.

In recent episodes, Hong Geum-bo (played by Park Shin-hye), who had infiltrated to uncover a slush fund ledger at Hanmin Securities, changes her course. She gains strong allies, including Go Bok-hee (played by Ha Yoon-kyung), and embarks on a new mission. The storyline shifts from exposing corruption to securing slush funds, showcasing the exploits of the Yeouido Pirates and the rekindling of the 'womance' among the roommates of Room 301, even after discovering each other's secrets. These new developments have piqued viewers' interest as the second act of the drama begins.

Go Bok-hee, realizing the existential threat to Hanmin Securities due to the IMF crisis and DK Ventures' involvement, abandons her interest in the slush fund and declines Hong Geum-bo's proposal for cooperation. As she prepares to leave the dormitory, memories with her roommates in Room 301 hold her back. Ultimately, she returns, declaring, "Why aren't you stopping me? You can't steal that money alone!" and decides to join forces with Hong Geum-bo. This scene, where both characters show change—Hong Geum-bo, who never needed anyone's help, and Go Bok-hee, who prioritized her safety—hints at the depth of their friendship.

It is revealed that Albert Oh (played by Jo Han-gyeol) is the captain of the Yeouido Pirates, a group that consolidates all information in the securities industry. Albert Oh also discovers the true identity of Hong Geum-bo, a 35-year-old securities supervisor. Hong Geum-bo reaches out for Albert Oh's help, who, in turn, brings in Lee Yong-gi (played by Jang Do-ha), a crew member of the Yeouido Pirates, to join the mission. The formation of the Hanmin Securities dream team, combining Hong Geum-bo's decisiveness, Go Bok-hee's quick thinking, Albert Oh's intelligence, and Lee Yong-gi's technical skills, captivates viewers.

A touching scene that received much love was when Kim Mi-sook (played by Kang Chae-young), who had been unconscious in the hospital for a long time, wakes up. Kang No-ra (played by Choi Ji-soo), who had been praying earnestly by her side, is the first to share the news. Hong Geum-bo and Go Bok-hee rush to her side, tears welling up. Kim Mi-sook's first words, "I'm sorry," upon reuniting with her roommates, evoke a poignant emotion. Even after learning each other's real names, ages, and identities, the roommates' affectionate smiles and laughter deliver a heartwarming moment.
