Actor Park Young-kyu Reveals Daughter's Journey from Military Academy to University
Actor Park Young-kyu recently shared that his daughter left the Korea Military Academy to enroll at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

On the October 25th episode of MBC's variety show 'Radio Star', Park Young-kyu appeared as a guest alongside No Min-woo, Hwang Jae-gyun, and Yoo Hee-kwan.

Park Young-kyu spoke about his stepdaughter, Joana, whom he gained through his fourth marriage. He mentioned, “My daughter initially pursued dance but decided to focus on her studies,” adding that she was accepted into the Korea Military Academy and he attended her entrance ceremony.

He proudly stated, “Back in our day, it was incredibly difficult to get into that school. It was rewarding to see her hard work pay off.”

However, his daughter struggled with the rigorous training. Park Young-kyu recounted, "A few days after her admission, she called me crying, saying 'Dad,' and eventually decided to leave the academy."

Afterward, Park Young-kyu's daughter took exams for another school. He revealed, “She was accepted into the College of Engineering at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. We paid the tuition and got her enrolled.” He added, “If I had a son, I would have wanted him to attend the military academy. It’s disappointing she couldn’t continue there.”

Meanwhile, Park Young-kyu has been married four times over the past 40 years, starting in 1983. His first marriage lasted 13 years, the second for 3 years, and the third for 13 years. His current wife is 25 years younger than him. In 2025, Park Young-kyu and his daughter Joana appeared together on 'Immortal Songs'.
