Actor Joo Jong-hyuk Reveals 7-Year Roommate Story with Jang Jae-ho
On the October 24th episode of SBS's variety show 'Whenever You Have Time,' Rami Ran and Joo Jong-hyuk appeared as guests, meeting Yoo Jae-suk and Yoo Yeon-seok in Paju.
During the show, Joo Jong-hyuk revealed some unique aspects of his background. He mentioned that his father ran a gym, and he holds a 4th-degree black belt in Taekwondo. He added, "I lived in the Philippines and then moved to New Zealand during middle school, where I studied hotel management. I initially planned to become a cruise bartender but ended up working as a bartender in Cheongdam-dong. It wasn't just a part-time job; it was my actual profession."
Regarding his journey to becoming an actor, he explained, "When MBC was relocating its headquarters, they filmed a promotional video, and I appeared in a minor role. I found it fun, so I asked a bartender colleague who was into acting about it. He asked, 'Do you want to live together?' and we ended up living together for seven years, sharing a room with bunk beds."
Joo Jong-hyuk shared, "We were both close, so I gave a speech at their wedding. I chose 'I Believe' as the background music, and as soon as the intro played, I started crying. People jokingly asked if I was the ex-boyfriend."
Joo Jong-hyuk also acknowledged his resemblance to comedian Yang Se-chan. When Yoo Jae-suk greeted him as "Yang Se-chan," Rami Ran defended him, saying, "He's much better looking than Se-chan." Yoo Jae-suk added, "He's handsome, but when they're together, they really do look alike." Joo Jong-hyuk humorously admitted, "I tried to deny it by appearing on 'Running Man,' but it only confirmed the resemblance."
