Veteran Actor Im Hyun-sik Reflects on Life and Legacy
On the October 19th episode of MBN's current affairs program 'Special World,' Im Hyun-sik made an appearance to share updates on his life.
During the episode, Im Hyun-sik visited the memorial of the late Lee Soon-jae before returning home. Once home, he spent some time in solitude, pondering, "When I'm gone, what will my daughters think as they burn this?"
At that moment, his second daughter, Im Geum-sil, visited him. She expressed, "I often visit because I'm worried about my father. Last year, I made sure to come by at least once or twice a week. There have been more hospital visits and more frequent times when I come home to take care of him."
While eating a meal prepared by his daughter, Im Hyun-sik reminisced about his wife, who passed away in 2004. He shared, "When all the side dishes go back into the fridge and there's no one around, I think of the kids' mom when I take them out again."
He told his daughter, "We have about 15 years left to meet again, if I'm going to meet your mom. 15 years is about right. 20 years is too long. I need to live for 15 more years, and I need to stay healthy to meet her." His words were deeply moving.
Born in 1945, Im Hyun-sik debuted in 1969 as part of MBC's first open recruitment for talents and has been acting for over 50 years. He gained immense popularity for his role as Soon-dol's father in the drama 'Three Families Under One Roof.' He continued to shine in supporting roles in numerous hit dramas like 'Hur Jun' and 'Dae Jang Geum.'
