Korean Broadcaster Kim Dae-ho Discusses Retirement and Financial Freedom After Going Freelance
On October 12, Kim appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel 'Lee Ji-young,' where he candidly shared his life philosophy and views on financial freedom.
Behind the public's curiosity about the 'trending' figure lies unexpected burnout and honest desires.
When asked about his future dreams, Kim made a bold statement, saying, "My dream right now is retirement." He expressed a desire for personal freedom over a glamorous broadcasting career, stating, "I don't want to work. I want to live life on my terms, doing what I want when I want."
What particularly caught attention was his 'criteria for retirement.' Kim stated, "Financial freedom is the quickest way to realize life after retirement," and mentioned specific figures.
He further clarified, "I'm not talking about a 5 or 6 billion won house that people imagine. I believe a family of four can live comfortably in Seoul with a house priced between 1.5 to 2 billion won. It's not extravagant or flashy," adding, "Three bedrooms, maybe four, and two bathrooms are sufficient."
When Lee Ji-young asked if early retirement was possible now, Kim responded, "Even without money, I could do it now if I wanted, but I'm trying to move as quickly as possible within realistic reach."
Kim revealed that he purchased a house worth 200 million won in Hongje-dong, Seodaemun-gu, several years ago and has since acquired an additional property next door, owning two houses.
Kim, who joined MBC in 2011, left the company in February after 14 years to become a freelancer, garnering significant attention. He is currently enjoying a second peak in his career through his YouTube channel and various entertainment programs.
