Huh Gak Returns to the Stage in MBC's New Show 'The Best of the Best'

Singer Huh Gak, who married Lee Soo-yeon in 2013, is set to appear on 'The Best of the Best'.

Premiering on the 15th, MBC's new variety show 'The Best of the Best' brings together the winners of numerous music auditions to compete for the title of the ultimate champion. From the first recording, the show features a lineup of legendary vocalists, including Huh Gak, the winner of 'Superstar K2', which sparked the audition craze in South Korea. His appearance has already caused a stir.

Sixteen years ago, Huh Gak captured the hearts of the nation with his voice, transforming from a 'vent repairman' to a 'superstar'. Ahead of his performance, he expressed his determination, saying, “It feels like I'm entering an audition again. I must win first place.”

The episode will also feature a special message of support from John Park, Huh Gak's rival and colleague from the 'Superstar K2' finals. John Park praised Huh Gak, saying, “Huh Gak's vocal cords are a gift. He was born to sing.” He candidly admitted, “Looking back, my popularity played a big role during the audition. I never thought I could beat Huh Gak with my singing.”

However, even for 'first-generation audition star' Huh Gak, winning 'The Best of the Best' won't be easy. The recent winner of 'Our Ballad', Yeji Lee, known as the 'rookie of the audition world', is set to compete. With her recent victory, Huh Gak commented, “It's hard to gauge her fighting spirit since her audition just ended. She seems to have a strong heart.”
