Former Singer Park Sung-mi Reveals Why She Chose a Life in the Mountains
On the 12th, MBN's 'Special World - The People of That Time' channel released a video titled "Park Sung-mi, who was scammed out of 300 million won in a celebrity club meeting".
In June 2023, 'Special World' shared an update on Park Sung-mi's life. The video revealed Park, who once released six albums under the stage name 'Jin Ah-young', now living in a rural village in the mountains of Yangpyeong, tending to her garden.
"I should have stopped there, but I took out loans from secondary financial institutions, and the compounded interest piled up," she continued, eventually losing several apartments.
Park revealed that she did nothing for ten years due to depression, stating, "I didn't turn on the TV for 20 years, especially avoiding music programs," expressing the guilt she felt as a singer.
Park recalled, "I only hoped that if the kidnappers heard my song, they might return the children to their parents."
She later visited Daegu's Waryong Mountain to meet Woo Jung-woo, the father of the late Woo Chul-won. Woo expressed, "I always felt sorry for someone who should have lived a glamorous life as a singer, helping us search for the children."
Life in the countryside has "improved a lot," and "I have more peace of mind," she said. Once a singer on stage, Park now finds happiness in the simplicity of everyday life, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.
