Park Bo-gum's 'Magic Hair Salon' Set to Premiere: A Unique Blend of Passion and Reality

Son Soo-jung, the director behind 'Magic Hair Salon,' emphasized her extraordinary enthusiasm for the program.

On the 29th, the online press conference for tvN's new variety show 'Magic Hair Salon' was held. Attendees included Park Bo-gum, Lee Sang-yi, Kwak Dong-yeon, and director Son Soo-jung.

'Magic Hair Salon' is a program centered around Park Bo-gum, who holds a national barber license, and unfolds magical stories in a rural village. Park Bo-gum takes on the main role of 'hair,' while Lee Sang-yi handles 'nail care and customer service,' and Kwak Dong-yeon is in charge of 'cooking,' providing strong support. The cast participated in everything from selecting the location to remodeling over the course of a year, showing their deep affection for the program.

Director Son stated, "On the fifth day of business, a huge incident occurs. It's an emergency. We were all on high alert, and each of the three cast members had their own emergencies, as did the production team. There were episodes that I couldn't have predicted."

The three actors couldn't immediately guess what situation she was referring to. Lee Sang-yi added, "From the production team's perspective, it might have been a colorful, exciting, and fun moment, but for us, every moment was intense. There were times it was really tough. I think I'll have to watch the broadcast myself," he said with a laugh.

Director Son continued, "The cameras roll 24 hours, and the production team stays awake with them. Usually, there's a choice to 'cut here,' but we didn't rest for a single moment in those 24 hours. I think it's a variety show that immerses itself entirely in authenticity."

She also noted, "Although the two of them spoke humbly, there were times when we couldn't end the business because of Sang-yi and Dong-yeon. They poured their passion into every moment, even when we wished they would stop. I believe their sincerity and effort will be evident, which is the biggest differentiator from other variety shows."

Finally, Director Son said, "It's a variety show where dopamine explodes. Rather than chasing provocative elements, as you'll see, just watching the actors will make dopamine burst. There's another kind of dopamine in the chaotic process with the villagers, and there's dopamine in the chemistry when the three of them come together," she said, urging viewers to anticipate the show. "If you think there's no fun in three gentle and kind actors coming together, you're mistaken."

'Magic Hair Salon' premieres on the 30th at 8:40 PM.
